Home Sweet Home

It's always sad when vacation comes to an end, but after nearly three weeks, we were looking forward to getting home.  I missed my bed, and I really missed Kennedy's high chair.  I didn't miss cooking and cleaning.  Or all of the laundry and unpacking that comes with getting home.  We had an amazing trip.  We were truly able to spend quality time, doing all of the things we dreamed of doing when we had children.  We celebrated the fact that Kennedy is now medication free!  We celebrated that we made it through what will hopefully be the biggest challenge of our lives - Kennedy's open heart surgery.  I could not have asked for a more wonderful time with my family.  We are already looking forward to the coming years trips to Hilton Head and everything we will do.  It really is exciting to start new traditions with your family.

Here are a few of the last vacation photos.  I'll have a highlight/recap tomorrow of all the funny and new things that we did while on vacation.

Feeding myself peaches by the pool.  It doesn't get any better than this.

We watched the ocean from the swing every evening before dinner.

All this sun is exhausting!

Grandma bought me my first car just for vacation and I love it!

Can we stay here forever mom?

This is the life.

I'll skip the oysters.  Just let me have Sophie.

Yesterday we spent the day in Savannah.  I've mentioned my "online friends" in previous blog posts, and how wonderful they are.  I had the chance to meet one of them back in June when she was vacationing with her family in Clearwater.  It just so happens that another one lives in Savannah, so we arranged to meet for lunch, at a really cool restaurant, called The Pirate House.  It was really neat to meet someone that I've known from a message board for about a year!  Kennedy and Baby T had a great time looking at each other, sharing pears, and being embarrassed by their mothers.  Take note of the pirate hats.

Kennedy and Baby T meeting for the first time!

Do I look as ridiculous in this hat as you do?

Are they really taking pictures of us like this?

If we pose for one, will you stop?

Can you believe this???

Thanks for taking the hat off mom.  I hope you left it on the table.

I hate to end this happy post on such a sad note, but I have to be grateful for the opportunity to travel and enjoy this time with my family.  It's hard to believe that it's already been ten years since America was under attack.  I will never forget that day, and I pray that our country never experiences anything like it again.  I'm so thankful for the men and women who serve this country.  I will never forget those that lost their lives, and their friends and families who have sacrificed so much.  God Bless the U.S.A.

  2. Vacation after her heart surgery is such a freeing event! We took a short vacation after Hailey's and it was a weird feeling to finally have the black cloud lifted. So glad you had a great vacation!
